Bandon lies along the Coquille River. In the middle of the 19th century Gold was discovered at nearby Whiskey Run Beach by French Trappers and soon the first settlers established present town site in an area originally inhabited by the Ko-quell Indian Tribe. The annual Cranberry festival is held the second weekend in September celebrating the community's No. 1 agricultural crop. live musical entertainment is offered throughout the festival. Kronenberg County park is the entry point to a county run beach where an ornate wooden staircase leads down to a beach with marvelous views of the ocean. |
