| About the area |
Clermont is in the city of Hudson. It is named after the Livingston estate of Clermont, which is located within the town limits bordering Dutchess County. It is one of the oldest great estates in the mid-Hudson Valley area and Clermont State Historic site is both a NY State Historic Site and a National Landmark. The Clermont estate marked the northernmost point of infiltration of British Troops along the Hudson River during the Revolutionary War. Clermont has many orchards and farmstands where you can buy locally grown produce of apples, berries, pears, plums and grapes. The locals are proud of their topography.
