| About the area |
The town has its origins in the building of Nutter's fort in the 1770's by three brothers of the same name who were of of Scotch-English descent. It would be about 150 more years before the city was incorporated. Each August the city stages the West Virginia Blackberry festival. For entertainment the festival has live music and stage shows over its three day run. A pet parade and a 5k run are other features of this event. A Talent contest and a Blackberry Baking contest are also held. To end it all there is a fireworks display.
