Quaint town with small court. Not very busy as the population is only over one thousand. Only 500 families live in the area. The location is confusing as they are on Ridges Corner between Gouverneur and Macomb. Established in 1827, the town is located in between Macomb, Hammond, and Gouverneur, New York. Named after Abijah Hammond who purchased the land in 1814. The Chippawa Bay is the main attraction to the area. Located on the St. Lawrence River, tourists like this spot. Oak Island is not far off which brings people in to view the area also. There are picnic areas and places to hike. Nice place to visit if you are ever in the area.
