About the area

Renton is located on south shore of Lake Washington and is only 10 minutes from SeaTac International Airport. The city also is served by a general aviation airport, the Renton Municipal Airport, owned by the City of Renton. A coal company was started here in the early 1870s. The economy soon expanded to include sawmills, coal mines and a brick factory. With World War II heating up; construction began on an airplane plant. This was the start of the Boeing Aircraft company which has been building planes in the city ever since. For the little guys there's kid-friendly, waterfront Gene Coulon Memorial Park. Relax by playing 18 holes of golf at Maplewood Greens or going to a concert or play at the Renton IKEA Performing Arts Center or Renton Civic Theatre. Renton Technical college offers courses for occupations such as Bank Teller, Central Service Technician, Commercial Building Engineering, Computer-Aided Drafting (CAD), Nursing Assistant and Veterinary Assistant.
