This sparsely populated town of 2100 people is spread over an area of nearly 24 square miles. It is believed that the town got it's name from Theodorus Jacobus Frelinghuysen, a respected theologian who lived in this area in the early 1700s. The town has vast farmlands and remains a rural residential community till date. The smallest home is on a 6 acre lot. There are periodical local farmers markets in the area. Borders Sussex County on its northeast, and I-80 runs through the southern tip of the town.
