It is believed that Tenafly gets it's name from 'Tiene Vly' meaning 'Ten Swamps' in Dutch. The borough of 14,000 people has a great downtown area replete with parks, restaurants and shopping centers. The Huyler Park in the downtown area hosts many concerts and other programs. Food ranges from Japanese Sushi to Italian Lazania. The Chamber of Commerce is located in the downtown area too. It oversees the economic development of the borough. The terrain to the east of the downtown area is very hilly and this region is often referred to as the 'East Hill' region in the borough of Tenafly. East Hills homes are more expensive because of the spectacular NYC view from the hill-top and cooler temperatures.
